Arrival

Sin luggage

rain 20 °C

So after an early start from heathrow to Madrid, where for some unknown reason I was put on standby so almost didn't get on the flight to Guayaquil, hence no luggage being put on said flight, followed by a two and a half hour drive with a crazy Spanish driver I finally reached my destination of Montanita. After some sleep disturbed by cockerels crowing, turkeys gobbling and dogs barking, an early start to enrol at the Spanish school where I have lessons from 10-12 and 1-3 every day followed by my dive training. Pretty full on as you can imagine and up early today to do my homework!

Haven't had much time to explore the town yet and it hasn't stopped raining since I got here! But people are friendly and I'm sure I'll settle in soon enough. I appear to be the only person enrolled for 8 weeks and this is meet with some surprise by most people - it does seem an awful long time now I'm just at the start of it. But I don't do things by halves so may as well get stuck into it!

Pray for some sunshine and the return of my bag soon for me - I have visions of falling over in the mud with no spare clothes to change into!

Best Spanish word learnt so far: las chichis (one for the boys!)

Adios!

overcast 16 °C

So I've made it heathrow and enjoyed my last little luxuries of hot water and clean sheets! Internet access was a minor problem but something to get used to I imagine!

I don't normally take much stock in these things but my horoscope for this week reads thus: As one cycle ends so another begins, and with the sun moving into your birth sign, this would be a good week to relinquish your hold on things you no longer have any use for. The more you dispense with now, the more space you will have for something better in the weeks ahead. What you do - or don't do - over the subsequent weeks will set the tone for the rest of the year, so make sure they are as good as they can be. What matters most in life is not that you win the game but that you learn about yourself.

Enough said really huh?!

Thanks for all your support in the last few weeks and for listening to me bang on about nothing else - be prepared for that to continue! Next time I write I'll be in South America baby!

Take care all

Muchos love
